I'm a former musician, I've spent the first half of my 'adult' life studying and teaching music, and I believe a lot of this discipline is still at the roots of my painting practice. I used to play the piano, and I studied classical piano as well as jazz and improvisation, jazz composition and arrangement.As an artist, just like I was as a musician, I feel different disciplines of art nourish one another. I paint abstracts, but my figurative work helps me sharpen the eye to brain to hand connection. I love running free in the fields of abstract painting, but also feel the need to sit quietly by the pond and focus on painting exactly what I see in front of me.
